Quilting projects #24 How to make custom quilted cower and painting with embroidery thread

After I made first quilted scrappy cover, I couldn’t stop myself. They are quite addictive but also it is such a wonderful idea for a gift for any occasion. Weather you use it for a notebook or a book, it will look magical on the shelf or your bag. Instant decoration and it doesn’t matter what is inside. I also used on some embroidery thread to add extra design and these are my favourites… I used various types of fabrics scraps, mix of new and upcycled from clothes, bedding etc. It all nicely blends together in this project. Scrap buster #57 Mushroom bonanza with crumbs and strings

If I make a template, I like to use at least few times. That is what inspired this block. While I was working on previous project I though at certain stage it really looks like a mushroom so why not to make few more and call it Mushroom Bonanza? There is a bonus of extra block which comes from snowballing the tops of mushroom so I have 2 designs in one. I haven’t put this one together yet as I want to add some other autumn motives to the mix.

I have used various fabrics (new, recycled, shirts) as well as crumbs. And string blocks made from the same fabric, these really fitted here. I love extra seams; they always add to the texture of the design.

Quilting projects #22 Zippered pouches from linen scraps

I never know what I bring home from the trip to Scrapstore. This time I took a bundle of linen scraps, mainly due to colours I saw in the mix. Little I knew scraps included bundle of birds! As soon as I saw them, I knew these will be perfect to put together into this zippered pouch. These are medium size and will be handy to pack various items. Great as occasional small clutch bag as well. It is very easy to make with step-by-step tutorial.
